Every quit-gambling app on the U.S. App Store, compared (September 2026)

There are now more than a hundred iPhone apps that come up when you search "quit gambling," and most of them were published in the last eighteen months. Almost none of them appear in any independent review. This page is our attempt at the reference we wished existed: every app we could find that is specifically about stopping gambling (not general habit trackers, not sobriety apps for alcohol), with the facts the App Store itself publishes — who makes it, when it shipped, when it was last updated, how many people have rated it — and a one-line summary of what the app says it does, in its own words. We make one of these apps. It is in the table, with its 15 ratings, and it is not ranked first.

How to read this table

The hard numbers (developer, first release, latest update, version, rating count and average) were pulled from the App Store on September 16, 2026 and will be refreshed monthly. Rating counts under about 50 tell you the app is new or small, not that it is bad — several of the most thoughtful apps here have fewer than ten ratings. "Last update" is the number to watch: an app that hasn't shipped in six months may not be maintained, which matters when you are trusting it to block a sportsbook. "What it says it does" is paraphrased from each app's own App Store description; we have not tested every feature of every app, and we say so where we have.

What the table shows

Three kinds of app are hiding under one search term. The blockers (BetBlocker, Gamban, Gambling Block, Bet Breaker, Bet Block, Padlock) do one job: make the sites and apps unreachable. They differ on whether the block can be undone (BetBlocker's cannot), what platforms they cover, and price. The recovery companions (Betttr, Cashed Out, QuitBet, NEVRR, CUTOFF, Outs, Betless, Bye Bet, Yume, RecoverMe) are built around a streak and the moment the urge hits, and some of them include a blocker; this is the fastest-growing group — seven of the ten launched in 2025 or 2026. The clinical programs (Evive, Mindshift Recovery) are free, evidence-based courses; Evive is gambling-specific and built with U.S. treatment experts, Mindshift is a general craving method that happens to cover gambling.

A few things worth knowing before you choose:

  • Only one app on this list actually enrolls you in anything, and it isn't an app. State self-exclusion and the National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program are run by regulators. Gamban and Betttr guide you to them; Betttr also composes the written requests you send to operators. Everything else is a device-side tool. If you have not self-excluded, start with our self-exclusion directory before choosing an app.
  • Blocker removability is the real difference among blockers. BetBlocker's restriction cannot be lifted until it expires. Most other blockers can be turned off by the person who installed them. If that matters to you, it decides the choice; see our Gamban vs BetBlocker vs Betttr comparison.
  • Maintenance matters. Sportsbooks change domains and launch new apps constantly. Two apps here have not shipped an update in more than nine months (QuitBet, Betless); Yume's last update was December 2025.
  • Ratings are not a ranking. Moxyz Studio's two blockers have the most ratings on this list and are pure blockers with no recovery layer; Evive has the most ratings of any recovery program and no blocker. Neither fact makes the other kind of app worse.

Apps we looked at but left out

We excluded apps with no gambling-specific features (general habit trackers, alcohol sobriety apps such as I Am Sober, which many people do use for gambling), apps with no U.S. listing, apps whose listing had no description of what they do, and the long tail of apps published in 2026 with zero ratings and a single release (NoBets, NoBet, Stop Gambling: Bet Free, Foldd, Unbet, ResetBet, Anchor, Safebet, Walkaway, Guardrail, BettorOff, GamblePause, Exclusio, Pact, Foldem, Safezino and others). We will add any of these that reach an update and ten ratings. If you make one of them and we have you wrong, email support@betttr.net.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best app to quit gambling?

It depends on which of three jobs you need done. For an un-removable block on every device, BetBlocker (free). For a paid blocker across phone and computer with progress tracking, Gamban. For a free evidence-based program with no blocker, Evive. For a recovery companion that starts with a blocker and self-exclusion and adds a community and daily tools, Betttr — which we make — or one of the other companions in the table. Most people who stay stopped use a blocker plus a routine, not one app.

Are quit-gambling apps free?

Most are free to download with in-app purchases; BetBlocker, Evive and Mindshift Recovery are fully free. This page does not list prices because they change; each App Store link shows current in-app purchases.

Do any of these apps self-exclude me from sportsbooks?

No app can enroll you. Self-exclusion is between you and your state regulator or the operator. Gamban and Betttr walk you to the right program; Betttr composes the written requests you send to operators yourself. Our self-exclusion directory lists every U.S. program and every operator that accepts a written request.

How often is this page updated?
