Definition

The industry's umbrella term for the tools and messaging operators provide — limits, cool-offs, self-exclusion links, helpline numbers. It is worth naming honestly: the framing places responsibility on the individual customer rather than on product design, which is the central criticism public-health researchers make of it.

Preferred phrasing

use "responsible gambling" when naming the industry's own programs; use "gambling harm reduction" or "consumer protection" when describing what actually protects people.
