Definition

Effectively a synonym for cool-off; most operators use one word or the other for the same feature, and a few use both for different lengths. Because the naming is inconsistent between books, always check the actual duration and what it blocks rather than trusting the label.

Preferred phrasing

"time-out (a short account pause)" — define it on first use, because it is not standardized.
