Prop bet
Industry and product terms
Definition
A wager on something inside a game other than the result — how many rebounds a player gets, whether there is a score in the first five minutes. Props multiply the number of things to bet on in a single event, which is what turns one game into dozens of decisions.

Additional citation research
The original definition and sourcing warnings are retained. These sources support only the claims identified below, not necessarily the full entry.
- Tennessee Sports Wagering Council glossary
Supports: Defines a proposition bet as a wager on an occurrence, nonoccurrence, or part of a sporting event other than its final outcome.
- SAFE Bet Act bill text
Supports: Supplies a substantially similar proposition-bet definition in an introduced federal bill; it is not enacted law.
Remaining evidence gap: The sources do not support the product-volume claims that props multiply things to bet on or turn one game into dozens of decisions.
