Definition

A named employee assigned to a high-spending customer, who contacts them personally with offers, tickets, credit, and sympathy after losses. VIP programs concentrate a large share of operator revenue in a small number of heavily-losing customers, and being hosted is one of the clearest risk indicators a person in recovery can name.

Preferred phrasing

"VIP host" or "account manager." Do not call the customer a "whale" — it is industry slang for a person being harmed.
